Well the last time that I saw her was Toronto in ’09
She
heard that I was there and ran away
I
called up all her friends and they told me she was fine
And
yes they knew about her get-away
I
said I just want to see her, I just want to say hello
I’m
not here to ask her to come back
In
matters of love she taught me everything I know
But
there’s still one more key lesson that I lack
You
see I don’t know the right words when it’s time to say goodbye
I
can’t deal with hearing the word no
And
she may not be successful, but please ask her to try
I
need to learn the art of letting go
Well
I hunted her all over in the bars where we first met
In
the clubs and pubs and restaurants as well
This
broken heart of mine wasn’t giving up just yet
I’d
made that vow and promise to myself
I
called up her mother, then I called up her sister
They
begged me to please leave her alone
I
said Just ask her to call me, just tell her that I’ve missed her
They
both replied by hanging up the phone
You
see I don’t know the right words when it’s time to say goodbye
I
can’t deal with hearing the word no
And
she may not be successful, but please ask her to try
I
need to learn the art of letting go
Now
it’s five full years later, I still cannot forget her
Her
picture’s still hanging on my wall
One
of my good friends told me last week that he had met her
And
she hardly ever thinks of me at all
He
said she’s someone’s wife now, she’s moved on in her life now
She’s
got kids now, and a new career
It’s
time to put the past behind yourself at last
I
told him that was not what I needed to hear
You
see I don’t know the right words when it’s time to say goodbye
I
can’t deal with hearing the word no
And
she may not be successful, but please ask her to try
I
need to learn the art of letting go
